SUSHI RESTAURANT INTERIOR DESIGN
Mr. Tuna
PORTLAND, MAINE
Mr. Tuna has grown from a popular Portland, Maine sushi food truck into a flagship brick-and-mortar restaurant in the Old Port district. Designed by Mey & Co., the 1,300-square-foot space captures the essence of the brand’s playful, urban aesthetic.
Taking inspiration from Mr. Tuna’s original food stall, the restaurant interior incorporates bold neon lighting, a striking pink tile palette, and a 14-seat sushi counter for an intimate dining experience. A custom-designed toile wallpaper in the restroom features Mr. Tuna’s signature wrestling fish motif, reinforcing the restaurant’s brand identity.
The open kitchen concept encourages interaction between guests and chefs, enhancing the omakase-style sushi dining experience. Light maple finishes throughout the space create a balance between modern Japanese-inspired design and Portland’s coastal charm. Seasonal outdoor seating provides additional dining options in the heart of the historic Old Port.
